Needed in Rehoboth: A whole lotta cat food

In all her years doing cat rescues, Heather Molloy has rarely see a colony of strays like the one she is dealing with in Rehoboth. Molloy estimates there are up to 60 cats living on a property in Rehoboth. She has taken in about 30 of them and is trying to get the kittens among them adopted from her organization, Paws of Plainville.

The group is also trying to raise money to spay and neuter the adults in the colony. Most of the cats have been living in a barn in Rehoboth, but the property owner can no longer care for them all. Some are sick and some moved into nearby woods and are feral. The owner has been cooperating with the rescue, so Molloy said she does not want to identify him or his property. She said he has agreed to allow some of the kittens to be put up for adoption, but he wants the adult mothers back after they are spayed.

Paws of Plainville is appealing to the public for help. The South Street organization could use donations of Purina Kitten Chow and Fancy Feast wet food. It also needs a lot of families willing to adopt. "We have lots and lots of kittens, and they all look the same - black and white," she said.
